Founded in 2019 by me, Lisa, Dorset Bookkeeping was created with a simple idea: small businesses deserve good bookkeeping without being made to feel like your concerns and questions are too small to be taken seriously. 

I have worked in finance for over 15 years and have extensive bookkeeping experience. I've also run my own bookkeeping business, building a client base largely through recommendations and long-standing relationships: so I know bookkeping from both sides - as the person doing the books and as someone running a small business herself. 

Finance can feel intimidating when it is not your area of expertise. I like to make complicated things easy, my passion is showing people how easy this can be, and seeing how we can keep more of your profits in your pockets!

Why I do this?

I built this business around supporting local Dorset based businesses as well as my own family.  It grew through word of mouth and guniune relationships with clients, exactly the way i hoped it would. 

And then COVID happened. 

Like many small busineeses, mine was affected by lockdown and circumstances changed. But the experience reinforced something I already knew: 

Having a clear picture of your finances matter - particularly when the world around your business is anything but predictable. 

Thats why i still beleive bookkeping should be accessible and tailored to the person actually running the business.
